Summary of expertise:
Vaughn O¿Dea is knowledgeable about a range of issues facing municipal wastewater engineers and facility owners as well as the high-performance coatings that can prevent damage to municipal facilities. In addition to his proficiency with biogenic sulfide corrosion of concrete and the effect of elevated hydrogen sulfide and other sewer gases on fluid-applied protective coatings, he has intensively researched repair materials and methods as well as coating selection to improve the performance of maintenance coatings.

Vaughn O'Dea is involved with the research and development of the Severe Wastewater Analysis Testing apparatus for the protective coatings industry, as well as Tnemec's comprehensive severe wastewater field testing program.

O¿Dea is a SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist, a NACE Certified Coatings Inspector and a NACE Certified Corrosion Technician. He is active in both NACE and SSPC technical committees and is a member of American Water Works Association, NACE International, SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings, International Concrete Repair Institute, American Concrete Institute, and Water Environment Federation.
