Feed Zend_Feed_Writer 1.10.8 (http://framework.zend.com) http://www.profnetconnect.com/travelinsurance How Having a Good Time Can Be Bad for Travel Insurance, Warns Squaremouth.com ST. PETERSBURG, FL - As summer travelers are ordering an extra drink or participating in a cruise excursion they may be voiding their travel insurance policy, warns travel insurance comparison site Squaremouth.com.

“Losses caused by intoxication or extreme sports are often excluded from travel insurance coverage,” says Squaremouth Marketing Manager Anna Coats. “Travelers should be aware of these restrictions because they are more likely to participate in riskier activities while on vacation.”

Most policies exclude activities such as bungee jumping, skydiving, and hang gliding. So if a traveler breaks his leg while jumping out of a plane, travel insurance probably won’t cover the medical costs.

While some travelers may not be surprised by these restrictions, they may be shocked to learn that calmer activities, such as parasailing or scuba diving, can also be excluded from coverage.

“Travelers can review the ‘General Exclusions’ section of the policy certificate to learn exactly which sports are excluded,” explains Squaremouth CEO Chris Harvey. “Those who want medical benefits for an extreme activity should purchase a policy with hazardous sports coverage, which reimburses travelers for medical evacuation and treatment expenses.”

However, unlike the hazardous sports benefit, travelers cannot purchase coverage to protect against losses resulting from alcohol.

“Alcohol impairs judgment and bodily coordination, therefore any accident or loss that occurs as a result of being impaired by alcohol will be subject to the plan exclusion,” explains Travelex Communications and Training Coordinator Meghan Francis.

Francis advises that travelers should maintain responsibility while on vacation. “Take every precaution that would be taken if you were back at your home,” she warns.

While travel insurance providers will not always know if travelers are under the influence when an injury occurs, they do require documentation to file a claim. A police report or medical record could alert a provider if alcohol is involved, which could result in a denial.

“We want travelers to have fun on their trips, but we also want them stay within their coverage limits,” says Coats.

Squaremouth Names Top Travel Insurance Providers for April 2012 ST. PETERSBURG, FL June 1, 2012 - Travel Insured International takes the top spot in US travel insurance sales for April according to comparison site Squaremouth.com. Travel Insured International has led the market in overall premium sold every month this year, and continues its reign by capturing 19.75% of the travel insurance market.

“Travel Insured International offers competitive pricing for seniors and families, making its products attractive to comparison shoppers,” says Squaremouth CEO Chris Harvey.

Travel Insured International and Global Alert Administrators were the only insurance providers to see an increase in sales from March to April, rising just over 1% to 19.75% and a half percent to 8.39%, respectively.

Seven Corners’ sales declined just over 1% to 11.63%, while CSA Travel Protection also decreased around 1% to 15.32%.

According to Harvey it’s not unusual to see minor sales variations due to the nature of comparison shopping. “Only two out of ten sales are from travelers who purchase the top travel insurance provider, leaving the other eight sales split amongst many providers,” says Harvey.

Squaremouth offers over 250 policies from 17 major providers. Customers can view multiple products side-by-side to compare coverage limits for benefits such as Emergency Medical, Medical Evacuation, Baggage Loss and Travel Delay.

Squaremouth Marketing Manager Anna Coats says that Squaremouth provides an unbiased resource for travelers. “At Squaremouth every product is presented identically, allowing our customers to easily compare benefits across multiple policies,” explains Coats.

Travel Insurance Comparison Site Squaremouth.com Named “Cool Office Space" ST. PETERSBURG, FL May 23, 2012 - When you think about travel insurance, beer kegs, glass walls, and pool tables probably don’t come to mind. However, travel insurance comparison site Squaremouth.com incorporates all of these ingredients to create a unique culture and modern workplace which has led to its title of “Cool Office Space.”

The distinction, given by the Tampa Bay Business Journal, recognizes businesses that have made office design an innovative part of their workplace. The Squaremouth office features an open floor plan, glass walls, exposed ductwork and 180-degree views of Tampa Bay.

Headquartered in downtown St. Petersburg, FL, Squaremouth designed its 3,300 square foot office from the ground up into a modern, open workspace with innovation and efficiency in mind.

“There is a direct correlation between our office design and our company philosophy. Everything is in our office for a reason,” says Squaremouth CEO Chris Harvey.

The wide open space boosts creativity. Squaremouth employees are encouraged to roam the office by sitting at a different desk each day or relaxing on one of the bright green suede couches. Instead of a conference room, employees gather in colorful, comfortable chairs arranged in a circle, dubbed the “Circle of Love.”

“Working from a new spot each day promotes constant change, prevents boredom and helps our employees generate fresh ideas,” explains Squaremouth Marketing Manager Anna Coats.

In addition to its forward thinking, Squaremouth promotes a minimalist attitude. Desks are clutter-free without telephones, office supplies or even trash cans. As a paper-free office, employees use their iPads to take notes and keep documents in an online database instead of a file cabinet.

To promote a relaxed environment, Squaremouth employees can wear anything to work, though most walk around barefoot. During working hours, they can play snooker, similar to pool, have a drink from one of two beer kegs or eat lunch on the office’s 12th floor outdoor balcony with amazing water views. Speakers are placed throughout the office and employees can control the music through an app.

According to its CEO, Squaremouth’s “coolness” was designed to create happy, driven employees, who in turn are more productive and provide the high-level of customer service that Squaremouth’s clients have come to expect.

“We want Squaremouth to be the most incredible company anyone has ever bought from. To achieve that, Squaremouth has to be most incredible place anyone has ever worked at,” explains Harvey. “Squaremouth can’t create that atmosphere having its employees work from  cubicles.”

Squaremouth credits its skyrocketing growth of 566 percent in the last 5 years to its company environment. It was named the 6th Best Place to Work in Tampa Bay last month and the 9th Fastest-Growing Company in Tampa Bay in 2011, also by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

“Our success stems from a company core value, that we believe in earning our customers’ business. If they have a incredible experience with Squaremouth during their first travel insurance purchase, they will continue to come back for future purchases,” says Harvey.

Travel Insurance Can Ease the Pain of Travel Delays for London Olympic Attendees ST. PETERSBURG, FL April 20, 2012 - As millions of travelers flood London’s airports, airline passengers should prepare themselves for increased delays, advises travel insurance comparison site, Squaremouth.com.

According to the Heathrow Airport website, the Olympics will bring the largest influx of travelers in the airport’s history. The number of travelers passing through the London airport is estimated to increase as much as 30%, from 180,000 passengers per day to as high as 233,000.

“An increase of that size can cause major issues for air travelers,” says Squaremouth Marketing Manager Anna Coats. “Airline passengers may have travel delays, missed connections, or lost baggage occurrences.”

For travel insurance policies that have a delay benefit, it will reimburse travelers for food, lodging and local transportation expenses. Depending on the policy, coverage begins 3 to 24 hours after the original departure time has passed and provides up to $1,500 in coverage.

“Having a shorter waiting period for travel delay coverage can be the difference of sitting in the airport all day, or passing time relaxing in a hotel,” says Squaremouth CEO Chris Harvey.

The increase in airline passengers also means an increase in checked luggage. Heathrow estimates handling up to 35% more baggage, resulting in more than 200,000 pieces of luggage on the busiest days, July 26 and August 13, the days before and after opening and closing ceremonies.

If a traveler’s luggage is delayed by the airline, travel insurance can reimburse for clothing, toiletries and other daily necessities, up to the policy maximum, which ranges from $50-$2,500. However, most travel insurance policies carry a daily maximum benefit for delayed bags, and a per bag or item limit for lost luggage.

In the event that travelers have to cancel their Olympic plans all together because of a covered reason, trip cancellation coverage may reimburse for non-refundable, prepaid expenses, such as airline fares, lodging and Olympic tickets.

“When attending something as substantial as the Olympics, travelers should protect their investment. Spending a few dollars now, can save thousands if something were to go wrong,” advises Harvey.
