So, I've been looking at a lot of real estate blogs this week. And I kept coming across hyper local blogs geared towards specific markets. At first, I resisted reviewing any of these. But then I remembered the three most important things about real estate: location, location, location. I can't very well talk about real estate as some broad national concept, when really it's a very local, neighborhood-to-neighborhood concern. With that, I'd like to talk about Brownstoner, the blog exclusively dedicated to real estate in Brooklyn, NY.
In their own words, "Brownstoner is the leading site about Brooklyn real estate and renovation, and all the tangential topics that impact life inside and outside the home in Brooklyn." It's more than that, though. The blog regularly hosts up to 3,000 real estate listings. It's a good resource, yes. But it's also a good read. New buildings, businesses, neighborhood news... basically anything that might affect a homeowner in the Brooklyn market can be found on Brownstoner.
I also feel a certain affinity for this blog, because my parents grew up in Brooklyn. In fact, they lived in brownstones if I'm not mistaken. And while Brownstoner may not appeal to every market or reader out there, it does appeal to me. And after all, when it comes to real estate, location is everything.
