Decor8 was founded in 2006 by Holly Becker. Becker had been working a corporate gig for about a decade, but knew her true passion was in writing about home design. So she took a chance. And from the looks of it, that 'gamble' paid off pretty well. Today, Decor8 boasts nearly 45,000 daily readers as well as enough decorating advice to fill, well, an entire house at least.

In their own words, Decor8 is all about "sharing honest opinions, fresh decorating ideas, beautiful interior spaces, independent art and design, products and services, and articles meant to inspire readers to live a more fulfilling, authentic and creative life." On the site we can stroll through a tour of New England markets, take a course in DIY wall hangings (I'm doing that one), or an illuminating piece on very cool lamps. There's really something for everyone at Decor8.

I personally love design blogs like Decor8, not because I'm necessarily planning on replicating exactly what I see here. I love them because they give me inspiration for my own living space, which, lets face it, could probably use some help. (I'm single. Give me a break.) But I should look to improve my space, because an organized, clean and peaceful living space can do wonders to a person. On sites like Decor8, I see that I really can do it myself.  I can improve my most immediate environments.  This site might even inspire me to clean my room tonight. And if that's not a ringing endorsement, I really don't know what is.
