While there's probably at least one 'cranky flier' on most flights, officially The Cranky Flier is an airline blog authored by Brett Snyder. Snyder has worked in the airline industry for most of his life. In fact he may have the distinction of being the world's first (and only?) 12-year-old travel agent. He also worked over 10 adult years in the industry. These days, however, he is the "President and Chief Airline Dork" of The Cranky Flier.
This site is not one big gripe session, however. This is s a site written by a very knowledgeable flier and industry enthusiast who takes large stories and trends and synthesizes them down into blog posts that resonate with the everyday airline traveler. For instance, as one airline announces cuts to their service, The Cranky Flier opines about how it will affect smaller cities.
One thing you won't ever read on this blog is a paid review. In fact, The Cranky Flier has pretty detailed ethics guidelines laid out on his site. Basically, The Cranky Flier will accept free flights and other perks, but it won't change his reviews. In fact, just because something's been given to him doesn't even guarantee he'll write about it. One guarantee, however, is that he will be transparent about everything. In his own words: "The only criteria for determining whether or not to write about a product is if it will make for a compelling post, good or bad."
