ecofabulous believes in stylish, sustainable living. Just because you are going green then, doesn't mean you have to go gauche. Like so many great things, ecofabulous is based in San Francisco. On the blog they say, "Being ecofabulous doesn’t mean sacrificing or smelling of patchouli oil." And thank god for that. Patchouli oil's disgusting. There I said it.
But what does ecofabulous mean? In their own words: "It means being an expert on your options. It means understanding where your products are from, what they’re made of, and what they will become in their next life–whether that be jeans, lipstick, or baby bottles." I like the sound of that. I think there's always been something tacky about showing off opulence or wealth. But given the precarious state of our environment it seems negligence can be added to tacky. It's one thing to show off your money, it's another thing to trash the eco-system in the process.
And that's where ecofabulous comes in. They're here to help with fashion, cosmetics, home, kids and just about everything else. They've got a solar-powered purse featured on the site right now. If that item doesn't garner a few "hey that's cool" then I'm not sure what would.
ecofabulous aims to celebrate high style coupled with low impact. Again, they don't want us to wear patchouli oil, but they do want us to be aware of our choices and options. They want you to look good, yes, but more importantly, they want the Earth to look good for our children and our grandchildren, too.
