Freshome is a home and design blog aiming to help its readers find peace of mind where they hang their hat. The site covers architecture, design, furniture, apartments, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and just about everything else home-related. Freshome started as a simple blog in March 2007 and now has a loyal readership and wide social media presence (94,000+ Facebook fans, 12,000+ Twitter followers and 45,000+ RSS subscribers) all adding up to about 4 million page views a month.
I'm a single guy who can barely keep his room clean, so the ideas of home design or decor are a little foreign to me. Intriguing, yes, but foreign. And that brings me to my favorite part of Freshome: the Ideas. Perusing through here we can see cheese-inspired staircases, this insanely cool keyboard-shaped set of coffee cups, and not to mention the most radical bike rack I've maybe ever seen. (Seriously, I love that bike rack. Christmas is only half a year way, everyone!)
I like all these ideas a lot. I like the whole site a lot. What I like most is that more posts than not, I say to myself "I want that, but there's no way I would have EVER thought of that." And that's Freshome's real value. They highlight creative, outside-of-the-box thinking and they do so in an effort to promote more peaceful and serene living. And that's probably something everyone could use a little more of. I know I could.
