Dr. Shulz is a champion of progressive Hearing Conservation Programs and can discuss the critical need and means to prevent occupational hearing loss through innovation in hearing protection design, technology, performance and comfort, and the promotion of hearing safety education.
She has a B.S. in Communication Disorders and a M.A. in Audiology in from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Hearing Science from Ohio State University. She has been a member of the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) for nearly 30 years and has served as its President. She is the President of the NHCA Foundation, and past Chair of the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC), a certified member of the American Speech—Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a fellow in the American Academy of Audiology (AAA), and a member of the Air Force Audiology Association (AFAA). Dr. Schulz served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years as an audiologist—where she was recognized twice as the U.S. Air Force Outstanding Audiologist of the Year and received the Elizabeth Guild Award for Contributions to Military Hearing Conservation.

Dr. Schulz began her career in hearing conservation as an audiologist for the U.S. Army for three years, and continued in the U.S. Air Force for eighteen years. Since her retirement from the military in 2004, she has worked in positions such as Vice President of Professional Operations for Sonomax, and at NIOSH where she was team leader of the Hearing Loss Prevention Branch. She is a Certified Professional Supervisor for Audiometric Monitoring (CPS/A)
