Summary of expertise:
Phil Cohen has provided educational services and mentoring to students for over 20 years. Prior to joining the nonsectarian New York City tutoring academy Prestige Prep in 2009, Cohen created and ran academic and cultural programs designed for Jewish youth.
On 2001, Cohen founded Dugmah, an academic tutoring and mentoring company in New York City. Dugmah provided Jewish cultural and religious education and mentoring to Jewish youth seeking something different than traditional Jewish mainstream education.
Prior to Dugmah, Cohen oversaw the global nonprofit Young Judaea/Hadassah National Youth Movement. Headquartered in NYC, the organization provided national educational programs for over 10,000 Jewish youth.
Cohen also served as National Director of Masada’s Informal Education and Touring Company. Based in NYC, Masada provided travel programs to Israel for 700-1200 Jewish youth per year.
These experiences helped Cohen form his educational method and policy: challenge students to push themselves while building their confidence and sense of self. To date, Cohen has worked with thousands of students and maintained lasting relationships with many.
Cohen joined forces with Elie Venezky as CEO of Prestige Prep in 2009. Together they provide top-notch educational tutoring and personal mentoring services for students set against the highly-competitive world of New York City’s private, charter and public schools.
Cohen lives in New York City with his wife and their two boys.
