Doctor Michael B. Zemel is the director of the Nutrition Institute at UT as well as a professor in the departments of Nutrition and Medicine. Dr. Zemel is an expert in cell calcium regulation, obesity genetics, insulin, and hypertension. In 2005, Dr. Zemel won the Lydia J. Roberts Memorial Lecture Award, given by the University of Chicago. He also won the Wheeley Award for Excellence in Technology Transfer from UT in 2004. Dr. Zemel is a member of the American College of Nutrition, American Heart Association, American Society for Clinical Nutrition, and American Society for the Advancement of Science among others.
