      Publishers Weekly called Coulter's GARDENING WITH HEIRLOOM SEEDS: TRIED-AND-TRUE FLOWERS, FRUITS, & VEGETABLES FOR A NEW GENERATION (UNC Press, 2006), a "welcome addition to every gardener's bookshelf." She specializes in heirloom gardening, or gardening with open-pollinated seeds and plants that have been handed down from one generation to the next. Coulter can talk about finding, sharing, and propagating the seeds of heirloom flowers, fruits, and vegetables.

      Coulter served as a Contributing Editor for Delta Sky from 1999-2003. Her work has also appeared in Southern Living, Family Circle, Progressive Farmer, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper, Family Fun, Easy Gardening, Lionel Trains' Inside Track, Atlanta Magazine, Georgia Magazine, and other publications. Coulter speaks and gives Power Point presentations about heirloom seeds and heirloom gardening at home improvement shows, such as SEMCOs Atlanta Garden & Patio Show, which typically draws 35,000 attendees. She also speaks and presents at gardening shows and garden club events, and she has lectured on writing and publishing at Georgia's Kennesaw State University, Georgia's Agnes Scott College, and in the Douglas County, GA school system. Coulter gives radio and newspaper interviews about heirloom seeds and heirloom gardening, and has been featured on Real Dirt, a radio program hosted by author and nationally known gardener Ken Druse.
