      Dr. Julie A. Boom's primary focus is improving community-wide immunization coverage levels, improving provider immunization related practice habits and providing immunization education.
      Boom is the principal investigator on the first project that evaluated the effectiveness of the rotavirus vaccine. Other research areas include an analysis of immunization behaviors and coverage levels and an examination of insurance companies coverage of adolescent immunizations.

      Boom is the director of the Texas Children's Hospital Immunization Project that has been recognized by the American Immunization Registry Association.
