She is the initiator of Transition Los Angeles, which is a hub for the international Transition movement exploring post-petroleum, post-carbon lifestyles. Her writing is distributed internationally via Energy Bulletin (aka Resilience.org) and Transition US.



    Joanne is the co-founder of the Environmental Change-Makers, a Los Angeles community group that has built two community gardens and launched numerous sustainability-oriented programs.



    Joanne's work and writing focuses on what we can do about peak oil, global warming, long-term economic contraction, and "peak everything."



    Her Los Angeles backyard is a food garden with four urban chickens.
