John Frawley, an innovative leader within San Francisco¿s waterfront community, was appointed President and CEO of The Bay Institute in September of 2009, after serving as Executive Director of Aquarium of the Bay for 13 years. Frawley was a driving force behind the Aquarium¿s transition to a fully accredited, San Francisco Green Business certified, successful marine nature center. As President and CEO, Frawley provides strategic direction and leadership to further the shared mission of the Aquarium and The Bay Institute in protecting, restoring and inspiring the conservation of San Francisco Bay, from the Sierra to the sea.

Frawley is President of the Fisherman¿s Wharf Merchants Association, sits on the Executive Board of the California Association of Zoos and Aquariums, serves as Chairman of the Zoo and Aquarium Committee of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, and is a Board Member of the American Institute of Ethics.
