Basically, I worked for a billion dollar company in 114 countries (Farouk Systems) as Director of Marketing and PR. I traveled all over the world and had zero time to get involved with associations. However, I recently launched my company and am becoming more involved with more associations.

      Prior media experience:
Jessica Marie Gutierrez is a young Latina, whose resilience and drive propelled her from humble beginnings to prominence in the business world. By age 21, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Business. Upon graduation, she relocated to Miami Beach to begin her career in Marketing/Public Relations.

While working at a Magic Johnson event, she met the Marketing Director for Farouk Systems, Inc. (FSI), owners of the CHI and BioSilk brands. As fate would have it, FSI became the platform on which Gutierrez would showcase her talents and remarkable work ethic. A quick learner and entrepreneur, she became the company’s youngest executive and Farouk Shami’s right hand.

Fierce and unstoppable, Gutierrez negotiated contracts that gave FSI hair care exclusivity at Miami Fashion Week and the DNC in Colorado. The momentum she built resulted in the brands being published in over 100 trade and consumer publications. As Managing Editor for CHI Magazine, she directed many photo shoots receiving over 55,000 views for the last cover she did featuring Miss USA, Rima Fakih. Additionally, she directed commercials for Shami working with renowned producers and celebrity hairstylists. Gutierrez also got FSI published on the front page of the WALL STREET JOURNAL and USA TODAY in each of their Money sections.

In October 2009, Shami shocked Texas and announced he was running for the state’s Governorship. He recruited Gutierrez as his Communications Director, where she faced resistance from the political machines for her bold leadership. Satisfied with the recognition Shami had gained through her work at FSI, Gutierrez decided to switch gears and head the Hispanic vote using her marketing savvy. Data showed over 85% of the votes he received were Hispanics.

Gutierrez bounced back from the campaign enthused and partnered up with the Harvard Kennedy School’s Latino Leadership Initiative. Known for being a multi-tasker and work-a-holic that never sleeps; she negotiated a two hour episode featuring FSI on Celebrity Apprentice along with an exclusive sponsorship with Miss Universe. Producers later teased that rather than Miss Universe it was “the CHI show” that aired on “NBChi,” due to all of the product placement she secured.

Her greatest accomplishment was having the honor to meet her Latina Hero and the person that inspires her most, US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, where they met in her chambers.

Her passion, motivation and overall being relentless proved she could indeed succeed in any industry!
