Higher-Education Institutions Discover a Primary Recruitment Strategy in Social Media
Hal Licino

"More than a third of all universities and colleges in the United States have optimized their Web presences to facilitate mobile browsers, and these figures are expected to double by next year, according to a recent Noel-Levitz study. The wholesale rush to providing potential students with easy access to the institution’s information, values and benefits in a way which best suits their preferred manner to access the Internet shows that colleges and universities are clearly aware of the power of social media and the ability to reach their prospects anywhere and at any time. Their efforts do not stop at mobile optimization, as nearly two-thirds of all institutions also use QR codes to attract students to their sites."

Job Seekers Must Now Act Like Trial Attorneys
Jennifer Hill

"Job interviewers are very sharp these days. They can spot exaggeration or even lies on a resume a mile away. They have researched your background before you have arrived for the interview and usually have seen everything you have placed on social media. They are going to ask you pointed questions and your answers had better be honest and consistent with what the public can see online. Candidates need to prepare for a job interview today the same way an attorney prepares for a trial; lawyers must be able to document their client's claim and the same candor is required of job seekers."
Hill is based in Santa Monica, Calif. She is available for media interviews.

How Will Your Credit Affect Your Ability to Qualify for the Loan You Want?
Chip Poli
CEO
Poli Mortgage Group, Inc.
"It seems obvious -- a good credit rating means a better chance at snagging a loan with a low interest rate, and a lower credit score can lessen your chances to secure that loan. But what can you do to boost your credit in advance of applying for a mortgage loan? First, don't open new credit cards (even store accounts) or apply for other loans once you know you're committed to homeownership. New credit accounts can affect your credit rating. Second, don't get rid of any existing accounts with a good payment history, even if you are not using them; they can be beneficial to your credit rating. And obviously, continue to pay off existing loans or credit cards on time to avoid a dip in your credit score."
