    What is ProfNet Connect?

ProfNet Connect is an interactive online community for PR, experts, key influencers and media professionals to network and communicate with one another.

What are the benefits of listing my expert (and/or myself) on ProfNet Connect?

With ProfNet Connect, you can connect with journalists, bloggers and other communications professionals, helping you position your subject-matter expert or organization as the go-to source when quotable experts are needed to complete a story. ProfNet Connect puts you in the driver's seat. You'll also benefit from enhanced profile capabilities, allowing you to easily add multimedia components to your expert profile. Stimulate visibility and media interaction through the inclusion of photos, videos, white papers and much more, which can be instantly searched by the media and are indexed by all major search engines.

How is this different from my regular ProfNet membership?

ProfNet Connect is separate from regular ProfNet membership, and does not include queries from reporters (ProfNet Opportunities).

    Is there a cost?

There is no cost to become a member of ProfNet Connect.

My experts are already listed in the ProfNet Experts Database. Do I need to also post their information here?

If your experts are already listed in the ProfNet Experts Database, you do not need to do anything to have them listed on ProfNet Connect – their information will be automatically carried over. However, we do suggest you look over their ProfNet Connect profiles to make sure their information is up-to-date, and to add any photos, videos, white papers, etc., the new profile allows.

I am a communications professional. Can I enter and update expert profiles for my clients?

Yes. In ProfNet Connect, you can manage the existing experts you had in ProfNet and/or add new ones. You will be listed as the contact person on all profiles for the experts you represent. And if an expert you represent signs themselves up for ProfNet Connect, they can add you as their representative at any time. Then, moving forward, changes you make to the expert's profile in either ProfNet Connect or ProfNet will be synched.

My client has created their own expert profile. How can I manage that profile?

Make sure you and your expert are both Connections on ProfNet Connect, and that the expert has already added you as their Media Contact. Go to Edit Profile, click on View Managed Profiles, and then click on the button under your expert's name.

I am concerned about my privacy. What are my options on ProfNet Connect?

You have total control over where your profile appears on ProfNet Connect, as well as who can make contact with you via the site's messaging system. You may opt out of getting contact via e-mail, and can ask that messages be saved only online. You can also list as much, or as little, information you're comfortable with, although we recommend filling out the entire profile with as many details as you can, to increase your chances of being contacted by reporters.

How do I contact another user on ProfNet Connect?

To contact another user via ProfNet Connect, just locate his/her profile on the site and click on the "Contact This Person" option on the left-hand side of the page to get the message box.

How can I let my colleagues know about the site so they can take advantage of it, too?

To invite someone to participate in ProfNet Connect, just click on "Invite" on the upper right-hand corner of the home page. It's free, and they don't have to be members of ProfNet to join ProfNet Connect, so feel free to share the site with as many of your colleagues as you'd like.
