Jean Joaillerie, a Paris based luxury eco-friendly jewelry and accessories line designed and owned by Jan Roberts, has joined some of the most sought after and established fashion brands in Europe on French online retailer GlamYou.com (glamyou.com), who specializes in top designer labels that range from Carmen Steffens to Menbur.

Owner of GlamYou.com, Aleksandra Gauthier, who discovered Jean Joaillerie on Twitter said, “When I first saw the images of jewellery by Jean Joaillerie on Twitter I was astonished by the attractive and glamorous light which was coming from the crystals of these designer pieces. In my mind they looked vintage but still new, unique and like jewels worth millions. After that day, when I discovered Jean Joaillerie's vintage-inspired necklaces I could not take them out of my mind and I just wanted to show them to the world of Glamour."

Jan Roberts, designer and owner of Jean Joaillerie said she is “honored to be invited to sell on such an exclusive site among such established and sought after designers and brands.”

GlamYou.com will be showcasing pieces from Jean Joaillerie’s Cinq a Sept Collection which features a glamorous array of dual purpose necklaces with detachable over-sized pendants that can also be worn as brooches.

The collection uses vintage bohemian crystal and natural healing and meditation gemstones on beautiful filigree brooch bases. A few of the pieces also incorporate vintage earrings found at the brocante markets in France. According to the designer Jan Roberts, “I wanted to create a dazzling piece with modern functionality that could look great with jeans and a tank top as well as be perfect for an evening gown, as a brooch on a jacket for a business woman who could transform it in seconds to wear as a necklace to an after work cocktail party.Really the only limit is your imagination."

How To Negotiate Like A Pro At The Brocante Markets In France

    Saturday, November 27, 2010, 2:09 PM [General]

If you plan to visit France and its famed antique and brocante markets here are some tips on negotiating like a seasoned pro to get the best deals even if you don’t speak a word of french.

Dress Casually! The commercants at the brocante markets can price any item at any price so the more casually you are dressed the better your chances are of getting a good price.

Gesture Wildly! Attitude is everything and a grimace is the best reaction after being told the price of an object. After grimacing mutter “ de trop cher”( too expensive) and shrug. At this point the commercant will probably tell you about its origin and try to justify the price. Look at the object again and grimace ( again). Shake your head. Now its time to eye a competing commercant and then look back at the commercant you are negotiating with and say “ Je vais reflechir” ( I will think about it). Now walk away.

Next Move! The commercant will  scream out “Madame/Monsieur” and make a better offer. At this point turn and hear out the offer. If it’s a good offer take it.

If The Above Doesn’t Happen! All is not lost. Stop at a café( within view of the commercant if possible) and have an expresso.Empty your wallet to contain 20% less than the final offer you received.Afterwards casually meander back to the commercant you were negotiating with and pick up and admire the object you were negotiating for.Tip your head to the side and pretend to be studying the object. Now put it down and shrug ( yes ! again !). Say “Je ne sais pas”(I don’t know).Pull out your wallet and open it to display the money you have left( after emptying it at the café) You will either receive a final offer or be on the receiving end of outrage and indignation expressed in loud words and gestures which need no translation from french.

Start All The Above Again With New Commercant!

    Repeat above instructions.

Jan Roberts invites you to visit her site www.jeanjoaillerie.com for handmade jewelry and accessories for jeans made from semi precious stones and one of a kind pieces found at the brocante and antique markets in France.
