      Summary of expertise:
      With over 25 years experience, Ed Addison co-founded Cloud Pharmaeuticals in 2009. Addison is a serial entrepreneur who has founded three previous ventures, two of which successfully merged with public companies in deals worth $55 million. He has an unusual and strong blend of in-depth business and technical experience in biotechnology and in information technology.

      From 2000-2009, Addison has been focused on a series of ventures in the pharmaceutical and life sciences space. These included start-ups in the life sciences market, including BioFortis, a LIMS venture in Baltimore, and Inclinix, a CRO in Wilmington, NC, and TeraDisc, the predecessor of Cloud Pharmaceuticals, where he was named "Coastal Entrepreneur of the Year" in 2009. As a life sciences business development professional, Addison has negotiated numerous licenses for therapuetics and technology.

      Addison spent the early part of his career in information technology, working for Westinghouse, Booz Allen and his own start up companies ConQuest Software and Powerize.com. He is also an adjunct lecturer of Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University where he has taught courses in bioinformatics, computer science and entrepreneurship. He is the program director of the online MS degree in Bioinformatics for Johns Hopkins University's Whiting School of Engineering.

      Addison's first venture was a search engine company called ConQuest. While at ConQuest, he was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 1994 by the Information Industry Association. After achieving #51 on the National Fast 500, ConQuest merged with Excalibur (now Convera) in 1995. After Excalibur, he founded Powerize.com, an information portal on the web which was merged with Hoovers in 2000. He is the author of a book called Leveraging the Horizon about seed stage technology ventures.
