Treating men for prostate cancer since the late 1970's, Dr. E. David Crawford is a nationally recognized leader in the field of research and treatment.
In 1988, Crawford formed the Colo.-based Prostate Cancer Education Council, a non-profit organization whose main effort is the coordination of free or low-cost prostate cancer screenings across the nation during the third week of Sept., Prostate Cancer Awareness Week. Since its inception, the Council has met Crawford's initial goal - screening millions of men throughout the U.S. Most notably, Crawford is credited for his efforts that have contributed to swaying prostate cancer statistics from diagnosis at an advanced disease to an early stage disease when it is curable.
Crawford is also professor of surgery and radiation oncology and head of urologic oncology at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center.
